A Call to Duty

Wed Jan 28, 2009, 7:20 AM
As you may have heard, Congress is pushing to pass a certain economic stimulus bill, but I'd like you to read this about it, compiled by both my mother and I after much research:

I'm sure most of you have heard about this "stimulus" package in the works, economic stimulus package, H.R. 1, the "American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009."

Here's a brief rundown since I want to get this email out, but if you already know the facts and want to skip ahead, I have links to finding and contacting your congressmen at the bottom:

-$825 Billion dollar bill- estimated to end up costing over $1 Trillion since money needs to be borrowed with interest in order to pay for the bill.

-The democrats have the votes to pass this bill.

-64-65% will be paid out over the first two years- from a report by the Congressional Budget Office. The Federal Govt. currently doesn't have the money to pay for its bill, so they will be forced to wait two years. The economy is known to take MANY, MANY recessions and booms, and each recession usually ends and evens itself out in two years.

$200 million removed for contraceptive programs- what is still in the bill?

-$4 Billion for ACORN groups-
A line item in the stimulus package - under the heading "neighborhood stabilization activities" - sets aside $4.19 billion for low-income advocacy groups such as ACORN. If you don't know ACORN already, ACORN has run SEVERAL VOTER FRAUD SCHEMES and is being investigated all over the country! ([link])

From [link]
- $600 million for new cars for the federal government
- $1 billion “to minimize undercounting of minority groups” in the 2010 census
- $400 million for NASA for global warming
- $400 million for “National Treasures”
- $6 billion for colleges/universities, many of which have massive billion dollar endowments
- $166 billion in direct aid to states, many of which have failed to budget wisely
- $650 million more for digital television conversion coupons

From [link]
-$200 million for the National Mall, (re-sodding due to Pres. Obama's glorious inaugeration)
-$150 million for Coast Guard work on navigation hazards
-$360 million for child care at military bases.

(from www.loudobbs.com)
-$50 million for repairs to NASA facilities for storm damage from hurricanes. Taxpayers' view, it looks like a backdoor special-interest earmark.
-$4.5 billion to make military facilities more energy efficient. President Obama says it's part of his plan to make America independent from foreign oil, taxpayer says it won't generate enough civilian jobs.
-Another $2.8 billion to spur rural broadband projects. Telecom companies say they can put people to work digging trenches and installing fiber optic cable. Taxpayer says it's a worthy project, but not likely to stimulate jobs immediately.

The House of Representatives will be voting on it today so it is imperative that if you disagree with another 1+ Trillion dollars in debt
WRITE OR CALL YOUR CONGRESSMEN!! It doesn't have to be fancy or well-spoken- just tell them to vote no and that the American people don't want this.
Here are two links so that no matter what state you are in you can look it up. We can't complain about them spending our money if we don't do something before it happens:

At the top of both pages are seach engines to find your congressmen. Please do this, we can't continue to support the pet projects of the democrats AND republicans!

***

And that's it.

I know several of you are older than me and actually pay taxes, vote, etc. (lucky dogs), so I'd really, really appreciate it if you could get your voice heard TODAY.

Now, the real tragedy I see here is how Pres. Obama promised an era of bipartisan ship, that he'd "reach across the aisle" and work with republicans, yet he came out and said that he would not compromise on taxcuts. Of this massive, nearly $900 billion "stimulus plan", ONLY $40 million is going to taxcuts to businesses. Congressional Republicans are firm on needing more taxcuts.
Why?
Well, if a business pays less taxes, they will have more money, thus they can afford to have more workers, leading to more jobs and a TRUE economic stimulus.
Yet Pres. Obama does not want to compromise?
He'd rather have $4 billion spent on special intrest groups like ACORN?!

Please, please, please speak up agains this outrage AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Congress is trying to pass this bill NOW so that no one will have a chance to react.
DON'T LET THEM GET AWAY WITH IT!

Thank You for your time.

I feel silly and out of my element. Reading this sorta made me wonder if people really are that stupid but... I have thoughts, but if other people that obviously support you see them... *sigh* I just don't wanna hafta argue with all of these people that are obviously smarter and better at almost everything than me.

Story of my life.

*huggle* Thanks bud. I'm trying my best to get the word around. It's hard here in PA, this is a mostly democratic state. :/

It'll keep being the story of your life if you don't DO something about it. They're only smarter than you because they work for it. People aren't born smart, they have to learn.

People are stupid enough to try to pass this bill? 244 House Representatives did. [link]
I'm curious to see which democrats didn't vote for the plan. I'd like to give them a hug and kiss their little asses. (...|D)

It's because yer all silly Yankees. xDD;;

During the Civil War, the North was mostly democratic and wanted to let the South seceed. Lincoln said, "HELL NO, MOTHA@#$%^&S!! We is gunna save our black brothas!" and went to war.

And during the Civil Rights Movement (Civil, civil, civil?) the Democrats were the ones who wanted segregation. It took Republican President Dwight Eisenhower's orders to desegregate Little Rock High School, and then his state troopers to enforce it.

Bet you won't hear that too often.

Here's a great read on all of that: [link]
